George John Polyak Sr.

March 27, 1963 - December 18, 2011

George Polyak obituaryBorn March 27, 1963 in Cleveland, OH, George suffered a catastrophic episode on December 11, 2011, where his aorta dissected causing several strokes. Unfortunately, God had other plans for George as he was never able to recover from the damages caused by the aorta dissection. On December 18, 2011, surrounded his family and friends, George passed away quietly. He was the youngest of three children and always asserted himself as the "baby" in the family. In 1964, the family moved to California where George was an excellent student in school and very involved in the Boy Scouts. In 1978, the family moved to Richland, WA where George graduated from Hanford High School in 1981. George was married for many years to his high school sweetheart, Teresa Sharp Polyak. Now divorced, he is survived by his three children, Maria, Matthew, and George Jr. He also leaves behind a loving family; mother, Ilona Polyak; father George I. Polyak; sister Agnes Ericson; brother Attila Polyak. George was a great father to his children and a wonderful uncle to his nieces, Kristin Ericson and Alitta Polyak.

George's parents are Hungarian, escaping communism and coming to America in 1957. He has many cousins still living in Hungary, whom he met in person only two years ago. George's laughter was contagious. When he laughed everyone heard him and laughed with him. Everyone George met was amazed by his friendliness and good hearted nature. A very hard worker, he was talented in many different specialties most of which was true customer service. He always made the customer feel like a VIP whether he was working as a short-order cook, a waiter, a salesman, a shopping cart repairer, or just a construction site laborer. He lived and worked in Spokane; Olympia; Sprague; and most recently in Richland, Washington. George was a member of the Richland Knights of Columbus and served as a lector at Christ the King church.

Funeral services are being arranged by Einan's Funeral Home. A Rosary was prayed at Einan's for George on Tuesday December 20th at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will be at Christ the King church today, Wednesday, December 21st at 3:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Richland, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in his name be made to the Tri-Cities Richland Food Bank.
